INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRENCH TROOPERS
“These troops are the battle-hardened backbone of the Empire. They stomp forward relentlessly and give no quarter. They are the rifle and sword, and will take the objective at any cost, even their own lives.”
Fighting Style: Responsible for breaking through the enemy lines. Clearing trenches and bunkers. Shock assault troops sent to fight in toxic and harmful environments.
Unit-Specific Missions: Assault, Counter Attacks, Hazardous Area Combat.
Weapons Issued: Single and auto fire-rifles, SMGs, LMGs, shotguns, pistols, melee.
Special Ability: “Gas, Gas, Gas”
Due to a combination of training and issued equipment, you [the Trooper] can survive for an unlimited period in YELLOW or GREEN smoke and for 30 seconds in RED or ORANGE smoke. You must shout “GAS, GAS, GAS” and put on a gas mask if you're not already wearing one in order to activate this ability and start a countdown if in RED or ORANGE smoke. After 30 seconds, if you are still within the red/orange smoke, your gas mask becomes inoperable and fails to work against gas, toxins and fire. Although you are protected, any troopers with you may not be. If you have no gas mask, then this ability cannot be activated.
Battlefield Dress Uniform [BDU]: This is your primary uniform while you are in combat and should consist of clothing that follows these guidelines.
WW1/2 style green or grey greatcoats or jackets.
Adapted WW1/2 style webbing of any kind. (Mix of modern military and historical aesthetic.)
Black or green peaked military caps or berets.
Green or grey combat shirt, trousers & jackets (or poncho). (Bring Spares)
Sturdy boots. (We recommend military boots, but appreciate that this might not be viable for some players due to disability or other issues).
(recommended) A Load Bearing Vest [LBV’s], Plate Carrier or Webbing belt. Any of these options are possible as long as they have multiple pouches [Min. 3]. We recommend the MOLLE belt rig system, as you can customise to your own personal satisfaction and the armour can be adopted over the shoulder straps.
Costume and kit specific to your regiment will be provided by the on-site quartermaster on a first-come-first-served basis should you need it. For the Trench Troopers this will include a helmet, mask and accessories. Some Longcoats will be available on a very limited basis. These are all free to borrow but must be taken care of. Any damages, loss or theft will incur a repair fee/fine.
Survival Essentials: These are items you must bring with you in order to attend Guardsmen:
Suitable eye protection (Glasses with additional framing are acceptable).
Water Carrying Capacity. This can be a water bottle or a Camelback.
Snacks. We suggest a mix of sweet and savour types or speciality ones designed for outdoors exercise or camping.
NERF armaments. We recommend a nerf style elite dart blaster, as these are the most common to acquire. It MUST be painted or suitably decorated to reflect it as a military weapon.
Personal thermal solution. The temperatures can be low for the event, especially at night so we recommend Thermal sub layers, gloves, hats, heat packs or hot water bottles as well as at least a 3 season sleeping bag for nighttime.
A watch or other suitable time-keeping device.
Any medication, devices or other things required for self-care. With medication carried on a person we strongly suggest this should be kept in the left breast pocket (over the heart) for ease of location. Allergies and medical items that might affect your event should be reported to the events team.
Bedding, including camping bed, sleeping bag and pillows, and tents, shelter and necessary sleeping gear
NOTE: There is no running water or electricity at Tuddenham - please bring a good amount of water to sustain you throughout the weekend and personal hygiene items that will keep you feeling fresh.
